The Edinburgh Compute and Data Facility (ECDF) will provide :
(i) Infrastructure: High capacity computation and storage infrastructure based upon a combination of a large commodity computing cluster, a condor pool, storage built upon the existing SAN resources and networking connections to SuperJANET5 and UKLight.
(ii) Services: Job submission and data management services to provide for the diverse requirements arising in different application areas.
Edikt funded systems support and user support have been recently appointed (September 2006). The compute cluster is in the final stage of tendering and the system staff have taken over the running of the SAN from EPCC. Potential users are currently being consulted on facilities and applications.
